My Story
With over 17 years of experience in nursing and 20 years in healthcare, my journey didn’t begin with a passion or calling—it started after achieving sobriety in 2004. Young, lost, broke, and searching for my place in the world, I decided to pursue nursing. While juggling two jobs—one as a patient care tech and the other as a server at a well-known New Mexican restaurant—I attended the University of New Mexico College of Nursing, graduating in 2007. Shortly after, I began my career as a nurse at a Level I Trauma Center.
Nursing became my entire identity—until I lost myself in it.
By October 2023, postpartum depression, anxiety, and burnout pushed me into a complete emotional and mental collapse. Forced to choose between my career and my infant son, I neglected my own well-being. Navigating the healthcare system as a patient was eye-opening and frustrating...And I honestly felt betrayed. I struggled to find real help and found myself in a really dark place.
During this time, I asked myself three life-changing questions:

What do I love about being a nurse? – I realized I love the connection with patients, the education I provided to patients, and empowerment I helped my patients find.
I also really cherished the bond and support I shared with my colleagues. It is a rare and powerful connection! IYKYK ...

Are other nurses struggling like me? – Unfortunately, yes. Many nurses feel burned out, betrayed, and unseen. More so now than in any other time in history, and I want to find a way to help.

Do I want to be part of a movement that redefines healthcare? – Absolutely!
Going through a life-altering mental and emotional breakdown became the catalyst for my reawakening. In the midst of my struggles, I found myself at a crossroads where everything I thought I knew about myself and my purpose began to unravel. It was in that deep, raw vulnerability that I rediscovered my true calling—one rooted in healing, connection, and helping others. This breakdown wasn’t just a moment of crisis, but a turning point that led me to embrace my true purpose with newfound clarity and strength.
I left my hospital administration role in February 2024, stepped away from traditional nursing, and The Reawakened Nurse was born. My mission is to provide relatable, authentic, and supportive content, that empowers You to make informed healthcare choices. With information at our fingertips and in the palm of our hands, it means a great deal to me that you are informed with FACTS. I want you to-
